The Bi-monthly Tokyo Babylon Entry.

I've had "Kiss Kiss" stuck in my head since I took that Tokyo Babylon song quiz (see yesterday's entry) and it's driving me insane. Subaru's a darling character, and it's an adorably bizarre attempt at writing a song in English for a show that's entirely in another language, but... argh. It makes me too cheerful. The line about becoming sunshine so he can kiss everything is too cute. :-) Is Tokyo Babylon the best series ever? Of course! There are such pivotal moments in that manga (and their run in X), these things that you can pinpoint and say, "that's when i knew such-and-such was true." Like Hokuto asking Sei very seriously not to hurt Subaru... that was when we knew she knew, even though she was still pretending for everyone else. Subaru wondering, "What kind of man is Seishirou-san, really?" in the very beginning, with his typical intuition, and then letting himself be taken in by the facade. "It was when I couldn't stop crying for him that I understood that he was the one person I didn't want to hate me." The damning moment for Subaru, because maybe he would have been able to deal better, fight better, and not need Hokuto to die for him if he hadn't just come to the biggest revelation of his life two seconds earlier and then found out it was a lie. "You're nothing to me but a simple object." Seishirou's insistence on keeping up the act, or at least his decision to refuse whatever connection he felt at the time. "No matter how evil you become, or how many people you kill, I'll still like you." Hokuto affirming the connection of the twins to Sei, even if he won't acknowledge it. "Even though it'll make everyone who loves me unhappy, I'll never abandon my wish." Subaru recommitting to the promise they made under the sakura tree sixteen odd years ago. "Don't ever activate this spell... It's a sin that can't be compensated. No one in this world doesn't have the opportunity to love someone else." Hokuto understanding exactly what Sei is going to do with her dying spell and warning him against it. "I thought I wanted you to kill me. Even if you soon forgot about killing me, even if you felt it less than a twig beneath your foot, even if I was just one more sacrifice to the sakura... at least it would have been you." Subaru making the confession he meant to make nine years earlier, albeit in a more morbid way, to finally get Seishirou's response. "You couldn't kill anyone because you're kind. Subaru-kun, I... you..." Seishirou's response, nine years in the making. LAWD, what a good series!!!!!!!!!! OK, I'm going out to run, and then I'm going to clean up some stuff in the lab, and then I'm gonna watch the first episode of the OAVs. :-) So, they have virtually nothing to do with the manga. They still got the feel pretty right. Have a good afternoon, everyone!
