Rearrange me til I'm sane
Wow... I was really going to write a long entry about Cowan's Gap and the wonderfulness of my vacation there, but I'm too tired to even put the words down. So, I'll just list a few of the cool things, and you can make of it what you will.
-bats rule. watching them come out of their little bat house at dusk is infinitely cool... they drop out and zoom away, one after the other, and there are so many more in a bat house than you would think could fit in there. they're so neat!
-i only remember my dreams when i sleep for over ten hours. but man, they're pretty neat when i do!
-long before ali had ever heard of the movie actor ed norton, she fell in love with a half-bright sewer worker of the same name on jackie gleason's "the honeymooners". having watched a few eps at night up there, i have to say that the years have not diminished my crush on art carney one bit. all you have to do is watch the ep where ralph is listing his strengths and weaknesses, and norton offers to help. he takes about a half hour to do the weaknesses, cheating ralph out of two dollars in the process, and then ralph asks him to list his strengths. norton writes something down, folds it up, and gives it back. ralph's incensed. "why did it take you so long to write out my weaknesses and two seconds to write my strengths!? you..." he opens it and blinks. "'ralph is the sweetest guy in the world...' norton, i... that's real nice of ya, norton..." "yeah, well, it's my way of saying i support ya." cutest friends in the world!!!!!!
-the water was frigid. it seriously was freezing into little icicles around my body. argh.
-chipmunks are darling, and mountain laurel is gorgeous, and bullfrogs sound just like geese! but black bears are not to be trifled with!
-buchanan forest is much, much bigger than you think it is.
-all you need is mountain air, lots of trees and rocks and lakes, and there is NOTHING in the world that can trouble you. nothing at all. :-)
