Virginia
Virginia is pretty awesome. It's this flat, hot, slow land of wrinkly tanned people and pine trees with bare trunks taller than I have a reference point to describe and fast-moving, wide rivers with names like Rappahannock and Yeocomico. It's a place that feels like it's trapped a hundred years ago with steamboats and little river shops, and you can always find a handful of people who KNEW the area when it was like that, because people live gradually, and thus they live long. Monroe has ears that are twice the length of mine, and my great-grandmother is the most adorable old woman I know.
