"I look at you, looking at me. Now I know why they say the best things are free." I like surveys. :-) If I fill out surveys, I don't have to do real entries. Not that I've ever had any real animosity against doing real entries. Quite the contrary, I'm fairly exhibitionist when it comes to the details of my day to day life, even if I'm just the opposite about most important things. :-) Nevertheless, I've had a busy day. First I felt intensely disappointed as soon as I woke up, then I was exhilirated and optimistic as I gathered together my things for Ithaca, then I enjoyed pure sensual pleasures for the rest of the evening at my gym and the local TCBY. Yummy strawberry smoothies. And at the gym, I had the distinct pleasure of watching "You've Got Mail" on one TV and "Bring it On" on the other. Was ever a gal so blessed? I think not. Anyway, here's the survey, courtesy of Jacqui! 1. First Grade Teacher Name? Mrs. Vosbergh 2. Last Words you said. “We’re well on our way!” 3. Last Song you Sang? The Coral, “Dreaming of You” 4. Last Person you hugged? Monroe, on Wednesday. 5. Last Thing you Laughed at? The last WoT Now cartoon. Those wacky Seanchan! 6. Last Time you said “I Love you”? To my great-grandmother on Wednesday. 7. Last Time you cried? Argh. At lunch today. STUPID BUTTERFLY KISSES! That song should be banned from the radio. 8. What’s in your CD Player? The Eels 9. What color sock are you wearing? None… I’m not a fan of socks in summer. I was wearing taupe flip flops. 10. What’s under your bed? Lots of papers. 11. What time did you wake up today? 9:30am 12. Current Taste Those awesome chocolate-covered mints that I usually get at J&P’s, and just learned that I can buy at Weis. 13. Current Hair In a claw clip thing. It’s nice today... I’ve decided to stop brushing it, cause it gets curlier and silkier that way. 14. Current Clothes soft white knit drawstring pants, my pink/coral tank top from VS. 15. Current Annoyance Not being able to go to SAWFY. The extensive stuff I got done today makes that worthwhile, but I’m still pretty ticked at my folks for putting me in this position, especially since they DIDN’T EVEN TELL ME TIL THIS MORNING. Grrr. 16. Current Longing to be able to make peace with an uncertain future. 17. Current Desktop Picture Jack Sparrow. What can I say? I’m a hero-worshipper. 18. Current Worry That I’m going to lose everything good about my life down here when I leave for Ithaca. 19. Current Hate? The swiftness of time. 20. Favorite Physical feature of the opposite sex? Eyes and wrists. Eyes for the immediate thrill value and for emotional closeness, wrists for tactile reasons. That seems weird, but it really isn’t. Someday maybe I’ll explain it to you. 21. Last CD you bought? Ooh. It was many moons ago. The Carolina Boys, “Good News.” 22. Favorite Place to be? Um… the people make the place, like Jacqui said. But if I HAD to choose a place to be by myself, I’d say Cowan’s Gap. 23. Least Favorite Place? I-95, and by association, Baltimore. 24. Time you wake up in the morning? it’s not consistent. :-) usually around nine-ish 25. If you could play an instrument? I already play piano and clarinet. If I picked up another, it would be a string- violin, cello, guitar or fiddle. Probably fiddle. :-) 26. Favorite Color Yellow! 27. Do you believe in an Afterlife? of course. :-) 28. How Tall are you? 5'2” 29. Current favorite word/saying? The Corinthians description of agape love. You know the one- “love is patient, love is kind,” etc. 30. Favorite Book Wah, why do people ask this question??? It changes all the time, depending on how I feel. Right now, I’m feeling extremely affectionate toward the late, great Roger Zelazny, so can I say all the Amber stuff? No? All right, well, we’re going with “Nine Princes in Amber”, then. Geez, I ought to read those again. Such good books. 31. Favorite Season Autumn. Summer’s gone too fast, winter’s only fun for a month or so, and although I’m very happy in the spring, it’s too soggy to really be fun. 32. One person from your past you wish you could go back and talk to? Jenn B. I miss that gal. 33. Favorite Day Thursday. I love Thursday. 34. Where would you like to go? Norway (and Lapland), Ireland, Easter Island, Alaska, Greece. 35. What is your career going to be like? Probably kinda laidback until I settle down and have babies. Then it’ll get kinda hectic. :-) 36. How many kids do you want? 2 or 3. I don’t want my kids to have the “only child syndrome”, but I’d like to be able to pay attention to all of them. Nevertheless, if I’m meant to have five or six, I’ll be thrilled with that too. 37. Favorite Car I really like Thunderbirds. Particularly that aqua one I saw when I was car-hunting. 38. Type a line you remember from any book Ooh, you asked for this one. “Because her flesh knows heat, cold, and affliction, I know fire, snow and pain. Shared and once again shared experience. Billions of prickling textures. Cut one away, cut part of life away. Take two senses, half of life is gone. We love what we know, we love what we are.” And also, “Death, however, is just a stopped watch, an ending… nothing. And the carnival wisely knows that we’re more afraid of Nothing than we are of Something.” –Charles Halloway, “Something Wicked This Way Comes,” by Ray Bradbury. Oh, and my favorite line of all time… “I wouldn’t mind you being in my head so much if you weren’t so obviously mad.” –Lews Therin Telamon, disembodied madman living in Rand’s head, talking to Rand. He clearly doesn’t really get what’s going on, does he? :-) 39. A Random lyric “Some people are good, babes in the hood, so pure and so free. I’ll make a safe bet that you’re gonna get whatever you need.” –“Fresh Feeling”, the Eels. 40. Identify some of the things surrounding your computer. Ooh. A cup of grape juice, my glasses, my contact case, my credit card application, an old letter (how it got here, I have no idea), some spare change, the Japanese purse my sister got me when she stopped in Tokyo, Ayn Rand’s “Anthem.” I hope everyone is having a great evening, wherever y'all are! :-) |
