"If you do this... you'll disappoint me."

:) Just finished watching the Godfather trilogy for the first time last night, and it was so divine, just like everyone always said it was. People say the third movie is such a disappointment, and I guess it's not a GREAT movie like the first two, but I mostly enjoyed it too. Simply divine movies, not just because of the script or the music or the story, but because by the end, you feel Michael Corleone so deeply that you hate the people that hurt him and love the ones that help him, and you really want him to be okay, even when you know what he's doing is wrong, because you've been with him through it all. You know his ultimate motivation for all of this is familial love... he didn't want to be involved with this, but he plunged himself in headfirst for the sake of protecting his father. "When they come, they'll come at what you love." This was what he was absolutely sure of, and what directed everything he did. Sure, some of the bloodshed was probably unnecessary. There are two deaths that were DEFINITELY not needed, in my opinion, that Michael suggested/ordered, and that came to pass. But when he's making confession in the third movie and he breaks down, you understand how tragic it is that he had to live this life, because he NEVER wanted to, and yet he became a man that he felt was beyond redemption for the sake of those he loved.

In other Godfather-related thoughts, Robert De Niro was unbelievably hot as a young guy. Like, ridiculously, absurdly, breathtakingly hot. I think the second movie is my favorite one, just because of De Niro. ^^
