Whoa...

I'm on the Latino Grad Council listserve... don't ask. But this came in my email today!

"NCLR APPLAUDS INTRODUCTION OF COMPREHENSIVE IMMIGRATION REFORM BILL

[Washington, DC – Raul Yzaguirre, President and CEO of the National

Council of La Raza (NCLR), the largest constituency-based national Hispanic civil rights organization in the U.S., made the following statement about the introduction of the “The Safe, Orderly, Legal Visa and Enforcement (SOLVE) Act of 2004” introduced by Senator Edward Kennedy (D-MA) and Representatives Luis Gutierrez (D-IL) and Robert Menendez (D-NJ):]"

Mr. Yzaguirre is my next-door neighbor back home... I had no idea he was Someone Important! Well, maybe this organization isn't as big as they're making it sound, but it's still jarring to see your neighbor's name in a random email from a Cornell Latino group. Weird.
