"I didn't do it. I wish to Christ I had. Course, if it was me, you'd be dead." I've recently discovered a show that I love even more than 24... or at least, I do so far. I'm on the fourth season, and I hear it's all downhill from here. 24, meanwhile, still kicks ass and is in its fourth season now, so we'll see which comes out the victor. Anyway, the show is Oz, a semi-old HBO drama about prison life, and I picked it up recently because I realized that a ton of actors I like are in it. It's REALLY REALLY GOOD. The writing is fantastic, the acting is great, it's got this awesome quality of being really sickeningly awful (people get their eyes stabbed out, crucified to the floor, branded with swastikas, gang-raped, injected with HIV, get both arms and legs broken, etc), but also able to make me laugh out loud several times an episode, and there are some really darling characters... cute old Jewish cellmates who bicker like a married couple, the Irish brothers, one of whom got brain-damaged and the other is taking care of him, the sweet, overly-serious leader of the Muslims, the ex-lawyer and the serial killer who fall in love, the hilarious and vile leader of the Aryan supremacists, the adorable and earnest Father Mukada, the hedonistic, tiny-hat-wearing African supremacist, and the sweet, philosophical wheelchair-bound narrator. I now see what kind of quality I miss, only getting basic cable. ;) Anyway, I highly recommend Oz if you've never watched it... it's fantastic. :) And now, I must go back to studying. :) |
